Our Story
Born from one exhausted
mum's 3am clarity.
Bummie™ started with a pile of wet clothes, a determined parent,
and a question nobody else was asking.
It was a Tuesday in October. My youngest, Ellie, had been in training pants for seven months. Seven months of accidents. Seven months of "she'll get there." Seven months of me quietly wondering if I was failing her.
That evening, changing her third pair of wet pants before bed, something clicked. She hadn't flinched. She hadn't even noticed.
She didn't feel a thing.
That was the problem. Not Ellie. The pants.
What everyone else got wrong
Most training pants are engineered to be comfortable. Soft. Absorbent. Dry-feeling. Which sounds ideal — until you understand how toddlers actually learn.
Potty training is a sensory process. Toddlers need to feel the moment they go. That sensation creates the brain connection between urge and action. Without it, there is no feedback. Without feedback, there is no learning.
The industry had been solving the wrong problem for decades — keeping toddlers dry instead of helping them understand why staying dry matters.
What toddlers actually need
Toddlers are capable of making the connection. They just need the right signal at the right moment.
The missing step between nappies and underwear isn't a new type of pull-up. It's a pant that lets them feel when they go — immediately and unmistakably — while still containing small accidents so the whole family doesn't suffer through the process.
Real feedback. Real learning. Real progress. That's what Dean and Sophie set out to build.
How we got here
Two years. One obsession.
The penny drops
After seven months I finally saw it clearly — the pants were absorbing too well. Ellie never felt a thing. No sensation, no connection, no learning. The product was the problem, not my daughter.
The research begins
I spent months talking to paediatric occupational therapists, child development specialists, and hundreds of parents. Every conversation made me more certain — and gave me a clearer picture of exactly what I needed to build.
First prototype
I had the first Bummie prototype in my hands. The SensaLearn™ inner layer that lets toddlers feel immediately. The LeakLock™ outer layer that contains accidents without creating mess. It wasn't perfect yet — but I knew we were onto something.
Real families. Real results.
We tested with 40 families across the US and Australia. Watching the results come in was one of the most surreal moments of my life. Kids were progressing faster. Parents were messaging me. It was working.
Bummie™ is born
We had our soft launch and within weeks the messages started coming in — parents I'd never met, telling me the words I'd been waiting two years to hear: "It actually works."
The technology
Engineered around how
toddlers actually learn.
Every layer of Bummie™ exists for a reason. The proprietary SensaLearn™ multi-layer inner system lets toddlers feel the moment they go — giving them the immediate, honest feedback their developing brains need to make the connection.
The outer LeakLock™ side guards contain small accidents so the experience stays manageable for everyone around them — without undoing the sensory signal.
It's the only pant designed to teach and protect at the same time.
What parents say
Words we'll never get tired of reading.
"We had been stuck for four months. Within two weeks of switching to Bummie, Mia was telling us before she needed to go. I genuinely couldn't believe it. This product is the real deal."
"My son was completely indifferent to accidents in his old training pants. Three days in Bummie and he was running to the potty himself. Three days. I've already bought two more packs and told every mum in our group."
"As a paediatric nurse and a mum, I was sceptical. The science behind it is sound though, and the results with my daughter were impossible to argue with. I now recommend Bummie to families in my clinic."
Our promise
"Every child gets there in their own time. Our job is to make sure the tools don't get in the way."
We will never make a product that isn't grounded in how children actually develop. We will always stand behind what we sell. And we will never stop listening to the parents who trust us with one of the most important milestones of their child's life.
